Professor Stephanie Watson OAM is an internationally recognised Ophthalmic Surgeon specialising in cataract, corneal and laser surgery, with expertise in eye disease affecting both adults and children. She completed subspecialty training at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London and Manchester Royal Eye Hospital in the United Kingdom. Her PhD was awarded for developing a novel corneal therapy.
Professor Watson is a global leader in ophthalmic research and innovation. She is appointed Professor and Head of Ophthalmology at the University of Sydney and has authored over 411 publications, holds international patents and is regularly invited to speak at international conferences.

Professor Watson leads the Corneal Unit at Sydney Eye Hospital and holds clinical appointments across major Sydney hospitals, providing advanced cataract, corneal and laser surgical care to both adult and paediatric patients.
Her clinical expertise is complemented by a distinguished research career with over 411 peer-reviewed publications and international patents. She has led award-winning innovation projects in medical device development and health technology commercialisation, receiving multiple national and international prizes for leadership and innovation.
As a RANZCO trainer and academic leader, she is deeply committed to mentoring and educating the next generation of ophthalmologists while continuing to advance translational research in corneal disease and cataract outcomes.
