Dr John Hogden is an Ophthalmic Surgeon with subspecialty training in corneal disease, external eye disease, cataract, anterior segment and refractive surgery.
He completed his ophthalmology training at Sydney Eye Hospital, where he was awarded both the Sydney Eye Hospital Travelling Scholarship and the RANZCO Topham Scholarship. He subsequently undertook further subspecialty training at the University of British Columbia (UBC) Vancouver Eye Care Centre in Canada, gaining advanced surgical experience in corneal and refractive procedures.

Dr Hogden completed specialist ophthalmology training at Sydney Eye Hospital before undertaking advanced subspecialty training at the University of British Columbia Vancouver Eye Care Centre in Canada. His fellowship experience provided extensive exposure to complex corneal transplantation techniques, cataract surgery and refractive procedures.
He has particular expertise in lamellar corneal transplant surgery (including DMEK, DSAEK and DALK), management of irregular astigmatism using topography-guided refractive surgery and the treatment of keratoconus and post-refractive ectasia.
Alongside his clinical practice, Dr Hogden remains actively engaged in research and contributes to the international ophthalmic literature.
Dr Hogden takes a precise and evidence-based approach to care. He works closely with patients to understand their visual goals and tailors surgical and medical treatments accordingly.
