Dr Dermot Cassidy is an Ophthalmologist fellowship trained in the medical and surgical management of corneal disease and cataract surgery, including laser refractive surgery and corneal transplantation.
He completed subspecialty fellowship training in corneal surgery at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital in Melbourne, followed by a further fellowship in corneal, external eye disease and laser refractive surgery at the Manchester Royal Eye Hospital in the United Kingdom.
Dr Cassidy holds a consultant appointment on the Corneal Unit and the Acute Ophthalmology Service at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital. Dr Cassidy undertook advanced fellowship training in corneal surgery at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, gaining extensive experience in corneal transplantation and complex anterior segment surgery. He further expanded his expertise through a fellowship at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital in the United Kingdom, focusing on corneal disease, external eye disease and laser refractive procedures.
He currently serves as a Consultant on the Corneal Unit and Acute Ophthalmology Service at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, managing complex corneal and cataract cases. In addition to his clinical work, he has contributed to the field through peer-reviewed publications, international presentations and authorship of a surgical textbook on endothelial keratoplasty.
