Dr Rylan Hayes is a specialist Cataract and Refractive Ophthalmologist with a particular interest in corneal disease, refractive lens exchange, cataract surgery and laser refractive procedures. He is passionate about providing advanced vision correction options to patients on the Sunshine Coast and supporting them on their journey to improved visual independence.
Dr Hayes completed his medical degree at The University of Queensland before undertaking comprehensive ophthalmology training throughout Queensland. He then completed a dedicated subspecialty fellowship at The Mater Hospital Brisbane, focusing on anterior segment conditions including cornea, glaucoma and cataract surgery.

Dr Hayes completed comprehensive ophthalmology training across Queensland before undertaking a subspecialty fellowship at The Mater Hospital Brisbane, where he developed advanced expertise in corneal, glaucoma and cataract surgery.
He performs a wide range of refractive and cataract procedures, including custom LASIK, PRK, ICL implantation, refractive lens exchange and premium IOL implantation. His additional postgraduate qualification in refractive, cornea and lens surgery reflects his commitment to delivering cutting-edge surgical care.
Alongside his clinical work, Dr Hayes contributes to academic and professional development through his teaching roles at The University of Queensland and The Mater Hospital Brisbane.
