Biography

Dr Nirosha Paramanathan is a comprehensively trained Ophthalmic Surgeon known for her technical expertise, thoroughness and compassionate, holistic approach to patient care. She is committed to delivering high-quality, equitable eye health services to patients of all ages.

Dr Paramanathan completed her undergraduate medical degree and postgraduate master’s degrees at the University of New South Wales. She then undertook five years of RANZCO-accredited ophthalmology training across Prince of Wales Hospital, Sydney Children’s Hospital and Sydney Eye Hospital, gaining extensive experience in both adult and paediatric ophthalmology.

Dr Paramanathan completed five years of RANZCO-accredited specialist ophthalmology training across Prince of Wales Hospital, Sydney Children’s Hospital and Sydney Eye Hospital. She gained broad experience in adult and paediatric ophthalmology before undertaking a dedicated three-year mentorship in strabismus surgery.

She now practises as a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon in Brisbane and at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, managing both routine and complex adult and paediatric cases.

Her clinical work is complemented by significant outreach involvement, including international eye care missions and regional Australian services, demonstrating her strong commitment to accessible and equitable ophthalmic care.
