Lens exchange surgery may be the preferred option for vision correction. The natural lens of the eye is removed and replaced with an artificial lens that is designed to put the eye in focus. This can be a multifocal lens implant so that vision is good for both distance and near vision.
For some patients, a corneal laser procedure cannot be performed for vision correction. This for example may occur if the cornea is too thin or irregular in shape. Removal of the lens of the eye and replacement with a specialised intraocular lens maybe then be an option.
