Biography

Dr Shyalle Kahawita is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon and Physician with subspecialty expertise in glaucoma. She studied medicine at the University of Adelaide, where she was awarded the David Crompton Ophthalmology Prize. She also completed a Master of Medicine (Ophthalmic Science) at the University of Sydney.

Dr Kahawita completed her specialist ophthalmology training across multiple locations in Australia, including South Australia, Alice Springs and Brisbane. She subsequently undertook a Glaucoma Fellowship at the prestigious Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, supported by the RANZCO Topham Scholarship.

She currently holds a public appointment as a Consultant Ophthalmologist at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and the Surgical, Treatment and Rehabilitation Service (STARS). Dr...

Dr Kahawita completed her ophthalmology training across South Australia, Alice Springs and Brisbane before undertaking a Glaucoma Fellowship at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London. There, she received advanced training in the medical and surgical management of glaucoma, including minimally invasive techniques.

She currently serves as a Consultant Ophthalmologist at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and STARS, managing complex glaucoma and cataract cases as well as a broad range of adult ophthalmic conditions.
